Ventilation and air conditioning for clean rooms
To ensure a high level of cleanliness, an air-conditioning system with temperature, humidity, pressure and dust-cleaning controls shall be installed.
The equipment usually includes:
- supply and extract fans,
- a recirculation section,
- outdoor air, exhaust air and supply air filters,
- an electric supply or water heater,
- a direct evaporative cooler,
- and silencer in the exhaust section.
The outdoor air supply is designed to provide 15-30% of the total plant output. This is sufficient to provide the necessary working conditions for the workers. This saves energy for heating and humidifying the air in winter and cooling the air in summer. An additional option for saving heat energy is to add a rotor type heat recovery section.
The indoor air is supplied through supply boxes equipped with Hepa filters. Air extraction is organised by extraction grates complete with dust filters placed in the walls near the floor. Inspection hatches shall be provided for cleaning the ducts.
