A round galvanized steel ventilation saddle tap (also known as a collar take-off or saddle take-off) is designed to create a perpendicular 90-degree branch line from a primary round duct mainline. This fitting allows contractors to quickly tie a secondary ventilation run into an existing, pre-installed ducting network without major dismantling. Serving as a highly efficient alternative to a standard full-bodied tee piece, the saddle tap significantly optimizes material costs and preserves critical overhead footprint above suspended ceiling structures.
This component is manufactured from structural galvanized sheet steel grade DX51D featuring a stable zinc coating mass of Z275 (275 g/m²). The premium material profile ensures excellent long-term resilience against environmental moisture and mechanical stress, maintaining the geometric integrity of both supply and extract air paths throughout years of continuous service.
Key Benefits of the Round Saddle Tap
Two configuration options tailored to project requirements: The automated pressed model features a smooth, deep-drawn radius transition collar (r ≈ 10–25 mm) that completely eliminates air turbulence and localized whistling noise. For heavy-duty industrial mainlines, custom-fabricated segmented variations are available to fit any non-standard diameter requirement.
Airtight Class D isolation straight out of the box: The vertical connection collar is equipped with a factory-fitted double-lipped EPDM rubber gasket. This resilient elastomeric profile tightly hugs the interior wall of the incoming branch pipe, preventing air leakage or suction drops without relying on sealing mastics or exterior tape.
Precision contoured base matching the mainline radius: The base curvature is exactly calibrated to align flush against the outer perimeter of the primary ducting mainline. This tight mechanical seat prevents structural wobble, eliminates assembly gaps, and mitigates system-borne vibrations caused by operating fans.
Technical Specifications and Dimensional Data
The geometric profiles, installation tolerances, and mechanical dimensions of our round saddle take-offs comply with international standards EN 12237 and EN 1506:2007. The metal sheet thickness ranges from 0.5 mm to 0.9 mm, precisely calibrated based on the component's structural dimensions.

Recommended Assembly and Fixing Guidelines
First, trace and cut a clean round opening matching the branch diameter inside the wall of the primary mainline duct. Apply a consistent layer of specialized polyurethane HVAC sealant along the curved under-flange of the saddle tap base, then press the component firmly onto the pipe. Secure the element mechanically along its perimeter using standard structural blind rivets or self-tapping sheet metal screws at a pitching interval of 60–80 mm. Slide the incoming secondary duct run over the vertical rubber-sealed collar until it stops, completing the tight intersection node.
