Description
A single-outlet ventilation box (plenum box or diffuser adapter) is an essential component of modern supply and exhaust mechanical ventilation systems with heat recovery. It acts as a connector between the concealed flexible duct network and the visible room diffuser or anemostat. Thanks to its spacious static pressure chamber, the box reduces airflow velocity and stabilizes pressure. This means a complete absence of drafts and unwanted noise: fresh air is distributed throughout the room smoothly and barely noticeable.
The body of the product is manufactured from galvanized sheet steel. This material is highly resistant to corrosion, which is critical for concealed installation in high-humidity areas such as kitchens, showers, and bathrooms. The high rigidity of the metal prevents the adapter from deforming when cast in concrete floors or secured tightly within suspended ceiling frameworks, ensuring high system airtightness throughout the building lifespan.
Spigot Modifications
To optimize installation processes for various construction needs, the plenum box is available with three types of flexible duct connections:
- OC Modification (Standard): The classic all-metal version featuring galvanized steel spigots. It requires sealing the joints with aluminium foil tape or sealant. This is an economical and practical choice for projects utilizing standard assembly techniques.
- GM Modification (With Rubber Gasket): The metal spigots are equipped with factory-fitted ring seals made of durable EPDM rubber. This ensures a quick and convenient connection of the flexible duct to the port, guaranteeing the highest airtightness class without the hassle of using mastics or tapes.
- PK Modification: A technological solution designed for maximum installation speed. The spigots are made of high-strength structural plastic with integrated snap-locks. The flexible duct is simply inserted until it clicks, after which the built-in clips firmly lock the pipe in place, preventing accidental detachment during subsequent construction works.
Advantages
- Versatility of Application: The design works equally effectively for both fresh air supply and stale air exhaust. Installation is permitted in any plane — ceiling, wall, or concealed within the floor.
- Space Saving Design: The compact profile of the housing allows the distribution box to fit into minimal clearances behind drywall or stretch ceilings, preserving the original design height of the rooms.
- Energy-Efficient Aerodynamics: The precisely calculated proportions of the static chamber minimize aerodynamic resistance. This removes extra load from the air handling unit (MVHR) and optimizes power consumption.
- Convenient Mounting: Cleverly designed external mounting tabs allow for quick balancing and securing of the box to building structures using standard wall plugs and perforated tape.
