RENOFAST Stainless Steel Chimney Rain Cap with Spark Arrestor Mesh
Product Description
The RENOFAST rain cap with mesh (spark arrestor) is a chimney system component that combines precipitation protection with fire safety functions. It is installed on the pipe head and prevents rain, snow, birds, and large debris from entering the channel.
The main feature of this model is the steel mesh surrounding the outlet. It breaks up and extinguishes burning sparks flying out of the pipe, which is critical for protecting the roof (especially bitumen, thatch, or wooden roofing) and the surrounding area from ignition.
Design and Installation Features
- Fire Safety: The fine mesh effectively traps large glowing soot particles, preventing them from scattering in the wind. This is a mandatory element for houses located in forest zones or having combustible roofing.
- Bird Protection: The mesh serves as a reliable barrier against birds ("bird guard"), which often attempt to build nests in warm chimneys, which can lead to total draught blockage and carbon monoxide poisoning.
- "Male" Connection (Inside Pipe): The mounting spigot has a reduced diameter and fits inside the upper pipe or cone. This guarantees that condensate and precipitation flowing from the cap enter the chimney rather than running down the facade.
- Material: The product is made of stainless steel, ensuring a long service life and resistance to mesh burnout.

Operation Recommendations
Using a spark arrestor requires attention:
- Regular Cleaning: The mesh gets clogged with soot faster than an open pipe. It is recommended to inspect and clean the spark arrestor at least twice a year to avoid draught deterioration.
- Fixation: Be sure to secure the cap to the pipe with stainless steel rivets or self-tapping screws, as the mesh creates additional wind resistance ("sail effect").
- Application: Ideal for bathhouses, saunas, and solid fuel boilers. Not recommended for gas boilers due to the risk of the mesh quickly freezing over with condensate and blocking the draught in winter.
