Free standing chimneys
Free-standing chimneys - a thermally insulated chimney that does not require additional support structures.
SIA Akvilon manufactures the stainless steel inner casing for such flues and, together with its partners, offers its customers a complete solution: manufacture, supply and installation of the chimney system.
Free-standing, insulated chimneys are designed to extract flue gases from the boiler house into the atmosphere.
The inner trunking of the chimney is usually made of stainless steel.
A cleaning hatch with a door is located in the lower part of the chimney.
Self-supporting chimney systems are designed for the discharge of flue gases from boilers. They can be used for flue gases with temperatures up to 500 °C, discharge up to 1 kPa and mildly aggressive chemical environments.
The self-supporting insulated steel chimney pipe is a free-standing 'tube-in-tube' type construction, where an internal smaller diameter chimney pipe is located inside the supporting trunk, which carries all external loads.
The outer supporting casing shall be made of S355 steel. The thickness of the outer casing shall be 5,0 mm.
The inner cylinder shall be made of stainless steel AISI 304, thickness 1,0 mm. This steel is for use in aggressive environments and elevated temperature conditions encountered during the operation of chimneys. The steel has an increased heat resistance up to 600°C, high mechanical properties and a long service life. AISI 304 steel according to test data is also not damaged by intergranular corrosion.
Interlayer - 50 mm thick insulation. This layer protects the chimney from rapid cooling and prevents condensation, thus improving draught and extending the life of the chimney.
