Insulated Chimney Storm Collar
Description and Purpose
The Storm Collar (also known as a rain skirt) is a mandatory protective element of the chimney system, installed on the outer pipe above the roof flashing.
Main function:
It acts like an umbrella, covering the annular gap between the chimney pipe and the cone of the roof flashing. Without this element, water flowing down the pipe during rain would inevitably get inside the house.
Key Features
- Complete moisture protection: Diverts water flow onto the cone of the roof flashing, preventing precipitation from entering the under-roof space.
- Durable materials: Made of polished stainless steel (AISI 430 BA), resistant to corrosion and atmospheric weathering. Maintains shine and aesthetic appearance on the roof.
- Tight fit: The design (with a tightening bolt) ensures secure fixation on the outer contour of the chimney.
Technical Specifications
The storm collar size is selected based on the outer diameter of your sandwich pipe.
| For Outer Pipe Ø (mm) | System Match (Inner/Outer) |
|---|---|
| Ø 200 mm | for 100/200 |
| Ø 220 mm | for 120/220 |
| Ø 225 mm | for 130/225 |
| Ø 250 mm | for 150/250 and 160/250 |
| Ø 280 mm | for 180/280 |
| Ø 300 mm | for 200/300 |
Important Installation Recommendations
- Installation order: First, the roof flashing (cone) is installed, then the chimney pipe is passed through it, and only then is the storm collar placed on top.
- Sealing (Mandatory): The joint between the storm collar and the pipe itself must be sealed with weather-resistant silicone. This will prevent water from seeping under the collar itself.
