Insulated Chimney Bend 45°
Description and Purpose
The Insulated Bend 45° (or half-bend) is an element of the IZOKOMPAKT double-wall chimney system designed to smoothly change the direction of the flue channel. The main application of this element is bypassing obstacles (beams, rafters) and creating an offset in the vertical axis of the chimney.
To shift the chimney to the side while maintaining the vertical direction, a combination of two 45° bends with a straight pipe between them is used.
Key Features
- Improved aerodynamics: A 45° angle creates significantly less resistance to gases compared to a 90° bend, ensuring excellent draft and less soot deposition.
- Seamless design: The inner pipe is made without transverse seams at the turn. This guarantees channel smoothness and absence of turbulence.
- Full insulation: The bend is insulated with rock wool (50 mm), which prevents the chimney from freezing at the curve.

Chimney Offset Calculation
The table below shows estimated values: how much the chimney axis will shift to the side if a straight pipe is inserted between two 45° bends. "Inner diameter" refers to the size of the inner pipe carrying the smoke.
| Straight pipe length (insert) | Resulting offset (mm) |
|---|---|
| Pipe 250 mm | 317 mm |
| Pipe 500 mm | 495 mm |
| Pipe 1000 mm | 866 mm |
Important Recommendations
- Fixation: Inclined sections experience increased load. Joints between bends and pipes must be secured with locking bands.
- Alternatives: If you need to make a sharper turn, use the 90° bend.
